Home Health
a.k.a. “home rehab” or “home therapy”
Main Value: Insurance-covered medical care in the comfort of one’s own home.
For people who:
Require nursing and/or rehabilitative services that can be adequately performed in the home setting.
Are adjusting to a change of health status and regaining independence.
Potential Downsides:
Not necessarily a 24/7 service.
Not for long-term care.
Price Range: Medicare Part A covers the cost up to 120 days maximum.
Home Health is a temporary medical service that is prescribed by your Kupuna’s physician, often for rehabilitation after a change of health status. Services may include physical, occupational, and/or speech therapy, and medication management, wound care, and other nursing services. Home Health does not provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living, meal preparation, housekeeping, transportation, or any other day-to-day chores that are associated with Home Care.
If your Kupuna needs: long term and/or more extensive care after Medicare Part A concludes, consider an Adult Residential Care Facility with Expanded Care. Or if your Kupuna continues to need extensive nursing services & equipment during and/or after Medicare Part A concludes, consider a Skilled Nursing Facility or Intermediate Care Facility respectively.
